The Other Guys
When you buy a competitor’s guard tracking or patrol system, you’ll get a package that looks something like this:

A device with cradle, a CD w/ software, and a bag of iButtons. Good luck!
After you receive this material, you must identify a single computer (normally near the guard station) on which to load the CD and lengthy instructions. (Normally their license is tied to only one computer unless you pay for more seats.)
Then there is the bag of tags (iButtons) with the tiny ID number on each one. Now you have to associate that tiny number to either a location or a guard; maintain a record of where you assigned it; and figure out how to get someone to enter that information on that one computer. This is not easy, even for IT folks. After reviewing all the technically complicated set up requirements, many of these systems are returned to the box, never to see the light of day.
By the way, this single computer is the only place to access the limited number of standard reports.

The GuardChecker Approach
In contrast, when you choose the basic GuardChecker, you get a package for each facility that looks like this:

The location and guard iButtons have already been created in your database. Merely assign to either a guard or a location, and then transfer that unique name from the form to the data base to personalize your reports. The Notebook contains all needed User IDs, Passwords, and hardware serial numbers. The needed fixtures and adhesives are also included, plus all the required hardware.
NOTE: This is the basic package and it does not include the Message Pad. If the MP is chosen, your data base will also already be set up to record your selected activities.
We have already done the following:
Set up your unique organizational hierarchy so that you can review all your facilities from any computer, anywhere.
- Set up your data base for each facility that includes all of the type tags (locations, guards, observations, actions, and items) you have chosen.
- Created a computer data entry form that coincides directly with the paper forms included in the package. Data entry can take place on any computer by an authorized manager. (As you deploy either the location or guard iButtons, merely write the specific name on the paper form and later transcribe it to the computer data base. If you just deploy without transcription your report will only show Location 01 or Guard 01, etc.)
- If you choose the recommended “Message Pad”, that will also already be set up in your data base.
- The Set Up Notebook also provides User IDs and Passwords for secure entry to you web site and data base. Additionally there is a hard copy set of instructions and the serial numbers of all the hardware.
- We have also set up your standard reports, plus any special reports you requested during the initial purchase. More reports can be easily added as your situation requires.
Essentially, unlike the competition, GuardChecker ships you a comprehensive system that has already been set up and is ready for deployment. Plus you can monitor all your facilities and not be limited to a single computer for access to your reports.
